ePass

Available now

Every visa asks for your passport number, issue date, address and emergency contact, and the next one asks again. ePass puts them on one card: fill it once, and every form after that draws from here.

What is on the card

Passport

Photograph the data page and the two machine-readable lines at the bottom are parsed on your device: number, romanised name, nationality, date of birth and expiry, all at once.

Fields printed only on the Chinese page, such as the issuing authority, are not in the machine-readable zone and need one cloud recognition pass. The page says so before uploading, and you can decline and type them instead.

Portrait photo

Cropped to the destination's required size and background, inside your browser.

Photos and passport images are never sent to us in plain form; with automatic backup on, they are encrypted together with the card.

Trip and contacts

Address, occupation, emergency contact and port of entry are kept once filled.

Paste a messy block of text, such as a chat log, and it is split into standard fields, filling only what is empty or badly formatted and leaving what is already there.

Travel companions

Put up to five passports together and see where everyone can go.

Each person has their own card. Whether someone's details are enough is judged only when a specific form is filled; the card itself is never "incomplete".

Where the data lives

Today: on your device

The card is written to the browser's local storage and does not pass through our servers by default. Clearing browser data erases it, so turn on automatic backup or export a copy.

Export: plain or encrypted

The export is one HTML file that opens with a double-click. The encrypted option uses AES-256-GCM with a key derived from your password by PBKDF2 over 310,000 iterations; the salt and IV are in the file, and it decrypts locally when opened.

We do not have this password and cannot reset it; if you forget it, the file cannot be opened.

Optional automatic backup is enabled in the AutoePass extension: sign in with Google and set a password, and the card and document wallet are encrypted with a key derived from it (PBKDF2, 310,000 iterations, AES-256-GCM) before upload. On a new computer, install the extension, sign in to the same account and enter the password to restore. We store ciphertext only and cannot decrypt it; a forgotten password means the backup cannot be opened.

Export a copy and use it elsewhere

A finished card is not locked to this site. Export it as a file and use it however you like.

Plain: anyone who has it can open it

The export is one HTML file; double-click to see everything in a browser, with nothing to install, no internet needed and no dependence on this site still existing.

Good for organising a family's details, showing to whoever is handling your paperwork, printing for a counter visit, or handing to your own AI to read: it contains structured fields, not a screenshot.

Plain means plain: do not leave it on a shared computer or drop it into a group chat.

Encrypted: a self-decrypting file with a password

Also one HTML file, but its content is encrypted with AES-256-GCM using a key derived from your password by PBKDF2 over 310,000 iterations. Enter the password when opening and it decrypts locally.

The portrait and passport images are stored as they are; after decryption the resolution is exactly what you exported, with no further compression.

We do not have this password and cannot reset it; if you forget it, the file cannot be opened.

What you want to do with itWhich to useWhy
Backup, new computerEncryptedThe file may sit on a cloud drive or disk for years; an encrypted copy is safe even if it leaks.
Organising a family's detailsPlainFamily members check and compare it repeatedly; plain text opens instantly.
Feeding your own AIPlainThe model needs to read the fields, which it cannot do when encrypted. Mind which model you use and whether it retains data.
Giving it to an agentPlainThey need to open it directly. If leakage matters, use the encrypted version and send the password through a separate channel.
Counter visit, printingPlainPrint straight from the browser; the layout is ready.

Export happens on your device and the file never passes through us. Who you send it to and how is your decision and your responsibility.

Who can read this card

WhoCan read it?Details
AutoePass extensionYesReads it on your machine and fills the fields into the official form you have open.
Your exported fileYesA plain file can be read by anyone who has it; an encrypted file only by someone with the password.
Our serversNoThe card is not uploaded by default; with automatic backup on, only end-to-end encrypted ciphertext is stored and we cannot decrypt it. Only while "auto-recognise" is on is a document image you add sent out once to be read; switch it off and nothing is sent.
