How to fill the Vietnam e-visa form, field by field

The official site evisa.gov.vn is in English and Vietnamese only, with 44 inputs and 9 radio groups. This page explains each field in the order the form shows them and how to fill it; with the AutoePass extension installed, the fields are filled from your ePass profile card and you only check, pass the CAPTCHA, pay and submit.

Step 1 · Two images FOREIGNER'S IMAGES
Portrait photo and passport data page. This step causes the most rejections; the formats are converted for you.

Step 2 · Personal details 1. PERSONAL INFORMATION
The name must match the machine-readable zone at the bottom of the passport exactly; one wrong letter gets it rejected.

A wrong port of entry means you cannot enter: the visa is valid only at the port it names.

Frequently asked questions
01Does a Chinese passport need a visa for Vietnam?
Yes. The e-visa is the usual route: US$25 single entry, US$50 multiple entry, up to 90 days, applied for yourself at evisa.gov.vn.
02The site is only in English and Vietnamese. What if I cannot read it?
This page explains every field in the order the form shows them. With the AutoePass extension installed, an explanation appears beside each field and the value is filled from your profile card.
03Will AutoePass submit or pay for me?
No. It only fills the fields; the CAPTCHA, the payment and the submit button are always yours.
04What happens after the e-visa is approved?
Print a copy and carry it. Within 3 days before arrival you must also complete the free pre-arrival declaration at prearrival.immigration.gov.vn and show the QR code at immigration.
05Are my passport and photos uploaded to AIeVisa?
Never in plain form. The profile card lives in your own browser; only with automatic backup on is it encrypted with your password and backed up, and we cannot decrypt it.
